Reluctant Rambling in Northumberland

Go to content

I've never been very active, preferring the draw of a cup of coffee and the newspapers over a ramble on the fells at a weekend. However, over the course of the past year, I've been exploring more of the Northumberland countryside (and actually beginning to enjoy it) and I wanted to share some short walks I've found in the hope that it encourages other reluctant walkers to get off their sofas and explore the beauty of the countryside whilst improving their health into the bargain!

On each of the walk pages you'll find a google map containing a path, along with photographs I've taken of landmarks throughout the walk which can help to guide you and give you an idea of what the walk actually looks like from the ground. I started doing this to help jog my memory about each of the walks and found it really helpful when planning to do the walk for a second time.

I've also included a series of pages with a 'picture of the month' taken whilst I've been out walking over the course of the year. I hope you enjoy them...
